Meet Justin Karr Conley

Title: Senior Digital Strategist
Years at NEA: 6 years

Denver, St. Paul, Minneapolis, Little Rock, Columbus, Portland, and a slew of Red for Ed states.

When NEA members take a work action or go on strike, more often than not Justin Conley is there, helping them to grow and leverage their power through strategic communications and digital tools.

Get this: During the Portland strike, union members and parents sent a whopping 115,384 emails and 28,056 texts directly to school board members, urging them—over and over again—to pay teachers fairly and get rid of the rats in their schools.

That tactic would never have happened without Justin. He knows what buttons to push—and when to push them—and he is constantly on the road, sharing that know-how with NEA affiliate staff and leaders.

Truly, it seems like every labor organizer in the Southeast and half of the folks in other states have his number on speed dial. And here are the things he tells them:

  1. Let’s make a plan.
  2. The best way to avoid a strike is to prepare for one. And
  3. Y’ALL ARE AMAZING!
